Continental Insulation supported major shutdown activities at the Acid Plant, removing large areas of insulation to provide access to the converter shell and flue sections for other trades. Once work was completed, the equipment was reinsulated with 6" of mineral fiber and re-clad with stainless steel sheet metal. A significant amount of fabrication work was also completed through CI’s metal shop to replace damaged cladding sections. The project was executed on a tight three-week schedule, with crews working 12-hour shifts to meet critical deadlines and ensure the safe and efficient restart of operations.
